LIBRARY ACTIVITIES

The Department of Library and Information Center organised a grand celebration of World Book Day on 23 April 2026 by conducting a Book Exhibition at the Ground Floor, Library Reading Hall, Amar Jawan Block. The event was planned with the objective of encouraging reading habits among students and faculty members, promoting the importance of books in education, and creating awareness about lifelong learning.

World Book Day is celebrated globally to recognise the significance of books, authors, and reading culture. Keeping this noble purpose in mind, the library department organised this event to provide a platform where students, faculty, and staff could engage with books, publishers, and authors under one roof.

The programme began at 10:30 AM and was formally inaugurated by Dr R. Bodhisattvan, Principal of NHCM, along with Mr Surya Prakash H N, Registrar of NHEI, in the esteemed presence of Dr Anitha S Rai, Director of Library and Alumni Relations. Heads of departments, faculty members, and library staff were also present for the inaugural ceremony, making the occasion prestigious and memorable

The exhibition featured an extensive collection of books, including academic textbooks, engineering references, management titles, competitive examination guides, fiction, non-fiction, biographies, self-help books, motivational literature, research publications, and general knowledge resources. The stalls were well arranged and attracted continuous visitors throughout the day.

Students from both colleges enthusiastically visited the exhibition and explored the latest titles and publications relevant to their academic disciplines as well as personal interests. Faculty members also interacted with the vendors and recommended useful books for departmental libraries and student reference purposes. Many students and faculty members showed keen interest in purchasing books and learning about recent releases in their respective fields of study.

The programme concluded on a successful and memorable note. The World Book Day celebration served as an inspiring initiative that reinforced the importance of books, libraries, and continuous learning in academic excellence and personal growth.
