Saraswati pooja

The New Horizon College of Engineering, Department of Library & Information Center, celebrated Saraswathi Puja on the auspicious occasion of Dasara (Navaratri). The puja was held on October 20th, 2023, at the library from 3 p.m. onwards. The venue was beautifully decorated with flowers and rangoli.

Goddess Saraswati is the Hindu deity of knowledge; she is associated with wisdom, music, art, and learning. She is delineated in white, as that is the color of purity, or Sattwa Guna, insight and wisdom. She has four hands that mirror Brahma’s four heads, which represent buddhi, or intellect; ahamkara, or ego, or self-consciousness; manas, or mind; and creativity, or imagination. Brahma represents the abstract, whereas Goddess Saraswati symbolizes reality and action. The items held in the four hands of Goddess Saraswati are mala (garland or rosary), pustaka (script or book), a water pot, and a musical instrument (Veena or lute).

The ritual was graced with the presence of Dr. Bodhisatvan R., Principal NHCM, Directors, Deans, HoDs, Teaching and Non-Teaching Staff Members, and students. The puja ceremony was performed by Dr. Anitha S. Rai, Director of Library and Alumni Relations, followed by songs and hymns of praise sung by the directors and HoDs.

The event concluded with the Mahamangalarathi of Goddess Saraswati and was followed by the Prasad Distribution, which overwhelmed everyone with joy and happiness for being a part of such an auspicious event.
