To foster a deeper connection between reading and artistic creativity, the Book-Inspired Art Competition was successfully conducted on 23rd September 2025 at the Lower-Level Library, Amar Javan Block. The event provided a platform for students to visually interpret the themes, characters, and narratives of books that have inspired them. This initiative aimed to blend literature and visual arts, encouraging students to reflect creatively on what they have read and to express their understanding through art.
The competition commenced promptly at 3:00 PM. A total of 46 students registered, and 18 participants enthusiastically participated. Each participant was required to bring their own art materials and create an original artwork based on a book of their choice. The setting of the Lower-Level Library provided an ambient, quiet space conducive to both concentration and inspiration.
Students chose a wide range of literary works for inspiration — from classic novels and children’s literature to contemporary fiction and graphic novels. The artworks reflected themes such as courage, fantasy, adventure, identity, and personal growth, demonstrating the diversity of students’ reading interests and their unique artistic interpretations.
The judging criteria included originality, relevance to the book/theme, creativity, technique, and overall presentation. The judging panel took time to carefully review each piece and understand the stories behind their work.
