A Report on Saraswathi Puja
The Department of Library & Information Center at NHCE celebrated Saraswati Puja on October 9, 2024, during the auspicious occasion of Dasara (Navaratri). The Puja took place in the Library at 3 PM, with the venue beautifully adorned with flowers and vibrant rangoli.
Saraswati, the Hindu goddess of knowledge, wisdom, music, art, and learning, was honored during the ceremony. The deity is symbolically depicted in white, representing purity (Sattwa Guna), insight, and wisdom. Her four hands, reflecting Brahma’s four heads, symbolize intellect (buddhi), ego (ahamkara), mind (manas), and creativity (imagination). While Brahma represents the abstract, Goddess Saraswati embodies reality and action. The items in her four hands include a mala (garland or rosary), a pustaka (book or scripture), a water pot, and a musical instrument (Veena or lute).
The Puja was graced by Dr. Manjunatha, Principal of NHCE, Dr. Bodhisatvan R, Principal of NHCM, as well as the Registrar, Directors, Deans, HoDs, teaching and non-teaching staff, and students. Dr. Anitha S. Rai, Director of Library & Alumni Relations, led the ceremony, which included hymns and songs of praise performed by NHCE students.
The event concluded with the Mahamangalarathi to Goddess Saraswati, followed by Prasad distribution, which filled everyone with joy and blessing. It was a truly spiritual and uplifting experience to be part of such an auspicious event.
