Author Talk: Beyond the Pages

The Department of Library and Information Center celebrated World Book Day with an Author Talk — “Beyond the Pages” — on 23 April 2026 at the Falconry Seminar Hall.

The session featured Ms Saranya Umakanthan, a nationally acclaimed author of four books and two translations. Her bestselling novel One Day, Life Will Change figures in the Limca Book of Records (Top 10 Fiction, 2020–22), and she received the PVLF Author Excellence Award 2023 for Best Fiction.

Ms Saranya shared her remarkable shift from a corporate software career to full-time authorship, speaking candidly about challenges, perseverance, and the writing life. The session drew 150+ participants and featured an energetic Q&A, with the author gifting signed copies to enthusiastic respondents.

The session was highly interactive and engaging, with students actively participating throughout. The author answered every question with great enthusiasm, offering practical insights and valuable experiences from her own life. Her interaction created a strong connection with the audience and inspired many aspiring writers present. The session witnessed enthusiastic participation from around 150 students, faculty members, and staff, making the event lively and successful.

A special question-and-answer session was also conducted, where students responded eagerly and demonstrated their curiosity and knowledge. To appreciate their active participation, Ms Saranya Umakanthan distributed copies of her books as gifts to selected participants. This thoughtful gesture delighted the students and made the session even more memorable.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks. The session was highly appreciated by both students and faculty for its motivational content, engaging interaction, and valuable life lessons. The Author Talk truly reflected the spirit of World Book Day by going beyond books and inspiring young minds to dream big, read more, and believe in themselves.
